Den123 is a lady who hails from Preston in Lancashire, England (own up, who thought that den was short for Dennis?) She is married and has been a member of our forum since January 2008. Having been back to Egypt many times, she has definitely been bitten by the bug which causes many of us to do the same.

Here are the replies to the questions I asked her: -

Q. What was it that attracted you to Egypt in the first place?
A. As a young child I read about it and it seemed magical and mysterious

Q. If the opportunity arose, would you move to Egypt to live?
A. Yes

Q. In your opinion, what is the worst thing about holidays / vacations in Egypt?
A. Coming home, I get depressed

Q. What one thing would you do to make Egypt more attractable to visitors?
A. Get the shopkeepers to stop hassling and let people browse. I did start a one woman campaign but haven’t got very far

Q. Have you ever considered going (or have you ever been) to places that are not on the usual tourist routes?
A. yes Gibel Silsileh interests me

Q. What is your favourite Egyptian City / Town? And why?
A. Help, Cairo / Luxor hard to say which I like the most love the bustle and craziness of Cairo. Luxor just feels like home to me, I belong there

Q. What is your favourite Ancient Egyptian monument? And why?
A. The hypostyle Hall at Karnak. It is amazing; it brings tears to my eyes

Q. Do you have a favourite period in Ancient Egyptian history? If so when and why?
A. I think the 18th Dynasty; most of the more well know pharaohs were around then

Q. Do you have a favourite person in Ancient Egyptian history? If so who and why?
A. Isis the goddess she certainly loved her man

Q. What one piece of advice would you give to anyone coming to Egypt?
A. Go with the flow, speak with a smile, remember you are only a visitor don’t act like you own the place. (Is that 1 or 3?) [Who’s counting - RR :D ]

Thank you den123 for your time in answering these questions.
