Day 2 - MUSCAT
The day will start with breakfast at the hotel, followed by a briefing meeting at 9:30 am for the group and guide to discuss the trip. The tour of Muscat will begin after the meeting, starting with a drive through the embassy quarter to arrive at the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, an impressive example of contemporary religious architecture that reflects the values and aspirations of the Omani people. The mosque is a perfect blend of aesthetics, culture, and Islamic tradition. Following the mosque visit, the group will proceed to the OPERA house, a stunning edifice built by Sultan Qaboos. Lunch will be enjoyed at a local fish restaurant before continuing on to Old Muscat. The area is surrounded by steep mountains and features twin 16th-century forts, Jalali and Mirani, as well as the Al Alam Palace, the residence of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos. Our next destination is the Bait Al Zubair Museum, which holds great significance for the city of Muscat. Founded by Sheikh Al Zubair 1914, who had served three previous Sultans, the museum was opened to the public in 1998 by his son Mohammad Al Zubair. Stepping into the museum feels like entering a fortress, with intricately carved doors leading to a collection of traditional Omani artifacts such as weaponry, jewelry, costumes, domestic utensils, and recreated urban and rural environments. After exploring the museum, we will take a scenic drive along the corniche and make a stop at Muttrah, the main port and commercial center. Here, we can wander through the vibrant historic souk, filled with winding alleys and stalls selling a variety of goods such as textiles, jewelry, traditional Omani perfumes made of frankincense, souvenirs, and antiques. To cap off the day, we will indulge in a traditional Omani cuisine dinner at a local restaurant, enjoying the relaxing atmosphere that the Omani people cherish. We will then return to the hotel for the night in Muscat.
Day 3 - MUSCAT -SUR- WAHIBA
Embark on an exciting adventure trip after breakfast, as we drive through an exhilarating stretch of Oman's 1,700 KM coastline. Our first stop will be at the renowned Sinkhole, which is a collapsed mountain filled with seawater. We will then proceed to Fins on a graded road, followed by a visit to Wadi Shab, where we can relish the natural beauty and take a short walk in the WADI. After lunch in Wadi Shab, we will head to Sur, a bustling sea-faring town and trading port, known for its intriguing old-town architecture and traditional dhow shipyards. Following a quick tour of Sur, we will continue on the coastal road, passing by tall cliffs and small fishing villages, until we reach the desert of Wahiba Sands by late afternoon. There, we will embark on a thrilling 4x4 vehicle adventure through one of Oman's most fascinating and enigmatic regions. The Wahiba Sands is a diverse landscape with constantly changing sand dunes that provide a habitat for a wide range of plant and animal life. This unique environment is also a favorite among photographers for its dynamic patterns. Despite its inhospitable nature, the Wahiba Sands has been home to a community of Bedouins for more than 7000 years. Visitors can experience the thrill of dune driving with experienced drivers and enjoy a traditional desert dinner and overnight stay in the camp.
Day 4 - WAHIBA SANDS – NIZWA
Once we finish breakfast, we'll have one last chance to explore the secrets of the desert before we head back to civilization in a 4x4. Our next destination is Wadi Bani Khalid, a stunning green valley surrounded by rugged mountains. It's the perfect spot to capture some breathtaking photos and take a leisurely walk to explore the area. We'll stop for lunch on our way to Nizwa, a city with a rich history and the former capital of Oman. Upon arrival in Nizwa, we'll quickly orient ourselves to the city. The 17th-century souq is a major attraction, famous for its silver jewelry, as well as the cattle auction that takes place every Friday. The massive tower was constructed on a foundation of solid rock to withstand the impact of 24 cannons. Our itinerary includes a visit to the SOUK, where we will explore the historic city on foot. We will then proceed to check into the hotel, enjoy dinner, and spend the night in NIZWA.
