There are more than 56,986 kilometres (35,409 miles) of road (national, regional, and provincial) in Morocco, as well as 1,808 kilometres (1,123 miles) of highways (August 2016). The Tangier-Casablanca high-speed rail link, the first phase of the ONCF's high-speed rail master plan, entails the construction of over 1,500 kilometres (930 miles) of new railway lines by 2035. The TGV will be able to hold 500 travellers and will transport eight million travellers annually. The HSR project began in September 2011. Infrastructure and railway systems will be finished in 2014, and the HSR will be up and running by December 2015.

Morocco hopes to become a world player in marine transport as billions of dollars are committed to infrastructure improvements. The Tanger-Med port and industrial facility, as well as a high-speed train between Tangier and Casablanca, will be built as part of the country's $16.3 billion investment plan from 2008 to 2012. The plan will also improve and expand the country's highway network and expand the Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport. The transport sector will remain one of the country's most dynamic for years to come, and the infrastructure improvements will boost other sectors as well as tourism. It will also assist Morocco in its effort to attract 10 million tourists.
