OUZOUD FALLS
The Ouzoud Falls is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Morocco and North Africa. It is worth a trip from Marrakech, about 150 km away. The Ouzoud Falls is the second-highest waterfall in Africa and is a tourist attraction. It's 110 meters high, overlooks the Tanaghmeilt village, and empties into the El-Abid River.
Strolling up to the bottom of the falls is very pleasant, enclosed by thousands of olive trees that make a lovely shadow on the path. The real treat at Ouzoud Falls is when you encounter monkeys swinging around on trees as they play with visitors who bring treats. They are wild animals but love playing with humans, so how often they will jump onto or cling to visitors' arms or legs near their favorite restaurants is curious!
The Ouzoud Falls are best visited during the summer. The water is lower, and swimming in the pools at the bottom of the falls is easier. You can get to Beni Mellal by taking a shared taxi from Marrakesh and then another one from Azilal, or you can take public transportation for much cheaper if you leave early enough in the morning. It's about five hours away by bus, and it takes 17-19 hours to travel there by car.
It is an incredible journey you must discover during your tour in Morocco; don't take it.
